Meet Paulette Thursday

It is an honour and a privilege to be part of ITV’s and Mammoth Screen’s hugely successful detective drama, Endeavour, the Inspector Morse prequel, as it returns for a fifth series in 2018. In episode 2, “Cartouche,” I bring a smile to the role of Paulette Thursday, the well-meaning sister-in-law of Detective Thursday.

When preparing for a role, one of the most fascinating and fun processes is building the character I am playing. In Endeavour as Paulette Thursday, I step onto the set as a working-class wife from 1968. Paulette becomes the person who could lighten your mood with a smile and find the best in any situation. A giggle became her trademark, a wonderful and fun character to play.

The Thursday Family

Being part of the Thursday family meant working with the incredible Roger Allam, (Fred Thursday). Married to Charlie Thursday, played by Phil Daniels, made this a dream job. Charlie has that extrovert personality and is quite the joker and is such a contrast to Detective Thursday. We had a lot of laughs! Endeavour audiences took to social media and said the chemistry we had was delightful, which was so lovely to read.

Endeavour is a wonderful show with extraordinary actors, writers, directors and cast and crew. Its range of characters and situations kept us on our toes. I feel very grateful to have had this opportunity to work with these incredible people.
